Real estate agent Karena Malott and HomeTeam owner Jeff Moses have teamed up to support homebuyers in Little Rock, Arkansas, with reliable, educational home inspections.
Successful real estate transactions require a team effort from buyers, sellers, agents and inspectors, and when local professionals can forge partnerships like the one between HomeTeam Inspection Service owner Jeff Moses and Keller Williams real estate agent Karena Malott, the outcome is incredible. As entrepreneurs in Little Rock, Arkansas, Moses and Malott have propelled each other’s growth through mutual respect and support, helping out countless homebuyers along the way.
“I started my business, very intentionally, to work with first-time homebuyers,” Malott said. “That doesn’t mean I’m not going to work with someone who has bought a home before, but I wanted to build a business that would help families navigate those waters and get into generational wealth through home ownership. So it’s important to me that the partners I work with have a similar mindset around education and information.”
Of course, HomeTeam’s educational, non-alarmist approach to home inspections is a great fit for this value. Moses explained that he originally met Malott at an open house she was hosting, and he was impressed by her professionalism and energy. After the two connected, they realized that there was potential to build a professional partnership while making a real impact for home buyers in their community.
“I feel our working relationship is a partnership. I know she depends on me to handle her clients’ inspections in a timely, professional manner,” Moses said. “We strive to give the client the information they need to make a confident buying decision for the biggest purchase of their life, and Karena depends on us to provide information that she and her clients need in negotiating a win-win situation for all parties involved.”
Malott pointed out that the efficiency of the HomeTeam process has been a major benefit to her, allowing her to quickly and easily schedule inspections and trust that she will be able to get a robust report on a tight turnaround.
“Jeff is the inspector I work with the most because of the ease of use and reliability,” she explained. “I can jump online quickly, find his schedule and get something on the books, whereas there’s a lot of back and forth with other inspectors. The technology makes it much easier. Even if we go under contract on a Saturday, I don’t have to worry about whether he’s in town or when he might get back to us — I can just get the inspection booked.”
In addition to supporting Malott’s efforts with first-time buyers, Moses has been a key player in other real estate efforts, including some of Malott’s personal real estate purchases and pre-listing inspections for clients.
Malott specifically recalled a scenario in which her clients were looking to sell a home they had purchased just four years ago. She recommended they get a pre-listing inspection to prepare to put the home on the market, and Moses’s team was the one to do it.
“I had Jeff and his team come out and pre-inspect the home before we listed it, and my clients were just shocked by the things that he found that the previous home inspector completely overlooked at the time of purchase,” she said. “They were really impressed by the fact that the team was out around noon, and we had the report before 9 p.m. that night. That helped them get prepared to put the house on the market, and they’ve already asked me to help them find an inspector like Jeff to help them with their next purchase when they move out of state.”
While the pair’s collaboration has had a clear payoff with clients, they also work to ensure that they support each other’s teams with ongoing communication and training. Moses said that he has trained Malott’s team on the various aspects of home inspections and the expectations that should be set ahead of a home inspection to ensure the agents feel comfortable with their role in supporting their clients through the process.
“He and his team are great people,” Malott said. “They’re great with the client, and they’re great with the houses. When you pull up to a home and see a HomeTeam vehicle there, it just makes you relax a little bit because you know that you can go in with confidence.”
