Introducing, Jarratt Spiers, born in Roanoke and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Jarratt has always been a hard worker. Immediately after high school he joined the military. Upon returning home, Jarratt got a job as a technician at a local cable company that turned into a 23-year career in the telecommunications field. He then went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in computer science while maintaining a full-time job as a supervisor at Comcast.
Jarratt’s career in the U.S. Army took him to Panama where he spent three years defending the canal. He spent his time in the 408 MI Bushmaster’s SOUTHCOM unit, the only tactical military intelligence group in all of South America. Jarratt also worked as a mechanic for light-wheeled vehicles during his service.
Jarratt’s love for troubleshooting and solving problems is what attracted him to the home inspection field. He understands how critical, emotional and expensive buying a home is and being able to educate the potential buyer on their purchase is a goal of his. Coming from a background in computer science, Jarratt appreciates HomeTeam’s implementation of the newest technology to better check for accuracy and increase productivity and report time.
Jarratt gives back to his community by leading volunteers for Comcast Cares Day and donating to United Way. He’s excited for further opportunities to get involved as he starts his business.
Jarratt has a wife and together they have three kids ages nineteen, five and ten months. You can find him camping, barbequing (he has four grills and two smokers!), making wine, motorcycling, and woodworking in his free time. He enjoys home improvement projects and yard work along with his passion for music, inspired from his parents, who were both music teachers. Travel is another interest of Jarratt’s—during his time at ECPI University he studied abroad in Italy, France and Spain.
Jarratt’s claim to fame is having been named after the town in Jarratt, Virginia, which was originally named for his ancestors. His full name, Robert Jarratt Spiers III has been in the family for generations—he’s the third in line with this name.
