Steven Ming comes from the world of information technology (IT), but prior to that he worked for a home builder doing foundation work and quality control for a subcontractor. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Telecommunications Management from DeVry Institute of Technology.
With over twenty years in the IT field, Steven’s been able to work for a variety of companies including, IHG, AT&T, and Cox Communications. He’s certified in ITIL Foundation, Scrum Fundamentals, IT Service Management, CCNA Switching and Routing, and Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
Steven even had success in operating his own online news and media company! Although he’s enjoyed working in IT, he felt a change was necessary. Steven’s always been interested in the real estate industry and saw that HomeTeam was the best home inspection franchise for him.
His passion for fixing problems is clear to all who know him. For years, Steven would take his wife to neighborhoods being built and tour the homes, pointing out all that was wrong in what appeared to be perfect houses. His meticulous nature will help him succeed as an inspector.
Steven found similarities between IT and the real estate industry—namely understanding systems, processes, quality control, standards, and reporting. Along with the team approach, HomeTeam provided a great sense of direction, which solidified his decision.
To help better his business, Steven became a member of the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce. Steven is also an active member of his church—he recently became the building representative where he looks for maintenance issues, then reports them to the appropriate tradesmen for repair.
In his spare time, Steven loves to host cookouts. Smoked barbeque ribs are his specialty—yum! He also enjoys playing the occasional computer game or two to unwind.
